We are indeed but a speck in this world and therefore we should spend our lifetime serving our unified purpose — be a steward and a neighbor for others. For life is short and should be spent with joy and being a blessing to the vulnerable.

In my years of existence, I have experienced a great amount of blessing. However, it is only recently that my eyes were opened to real-world issues and witnessed an abundance of suffering on the other side. I have COVID-19 to thank for this eye-opener that has led me to a new path of sharing and giving — and that is how to be a steward: By being part of change and of the bigger part of this world.

In the past months I have been exposing myself to the different challenges that the vast majority of my fellow countrymen are facing such as but not limited to; hunger, water and electricity shortages, lack of access to basic resources and necessities, unemployment, lack of education and all the other consequences that poverty comes with. I have also seen communities drown in floods. And the very fact that these ongoing issues have never become a dilemma for me has led me to the journey of my desire to initiate change and create impact.

There are many ways to be a steward. Through experiences, you will be able to discover what it really means to be part of the bigger world and the rest of humankind. We all have our own unique definitions and interpretations of what our own purpose in life is. Some may already know, some have still yet to discover theirs, some thought they already know but ended up changing and that is okay. Because change is a beautiful feature that allows us to experience many great things and change unveils to us the truest beauty of life and experiences.

No matter how long it takes you to find out what it truly means to be part of the bigger reality it’s okay. What’s important right now is we are able to individually contribute to the survival of the world in its combat against the current enemy — COVID-19. The fact that we are sacrificing a portion of our life is big and we should appreciate that sacrifice — it’s that sacrifice that keeps you and the rest of the world safe. Our sacrifice makes us selfless.

To be part of this world is to be one with the world. United through successes, achievements, problems, and failures. being selfless and making sacrifices to contribute to change and to help make society a better world to live in. Small steps make big changes, in fact, it’s better to start small than not starting at all.
